The Factory Apartments — New-Build Residential Development | RPR Planning

The Factory Apartments is a purpose-built residential development that takes its name and design cues from the industrial heritage of its site. RPR worked closely with the developer from the earliest stages to develop an architectural language that is both commercially viable and contextually sensitive.

The scheme comprises a multi-storey building clad in warm handmade brick with dark metal standing-seam upper floors — a material palette that references the site's industrial past whilst delivering a thoroughly contemporary aesthetic. Each apartment benefits from generous glazing, private balconies or terraces, and open-plan living spaces flooded with natural light.

Internally, the apartments are specified to a high standard throughout, with open-plan kitchen and living areas, floor-to-ceiling glazed doors opening onto private balconies, and well-proportioned bedrooms with fitted storage. The development delivers a mix of one and two-bedroom apartments designed to appeal to owner-occupiers and investors alike.

RPR managed the full planning and design process, from initial site appraisal and pre-application discussions with the local authority through to the submission and approval of the full planning application and subsequent planning appeal to get a 9th unit on the site.
